The BHUDRH provides modern residential accommodation free of charge to students on placement in Broken Hill and all placement sites across our footprint.
Student accommodation typically includes:
- Double or Queen bed
- Kitchen (shared)
- Bathroom (shared)
- Laundry facilities (shared)
Students requiring a room should submit an online application to reserve their accommodation.
Accommodation is also available for students of non-health disciplines, however a weekly accommodation fee applies.
At least one week prior to arrival, students will receive an email from the Student Placements Services team advising them of their accommodation’s address, as well as where they can collect keys.
Accommodation is normally available for arrival on Sunday afternoon.
If students require accommodation on Saturday evening prior to commencing their placement, they must note this in the comments box at the end of their application form.
The BHUDRH will do its best to assist with accommodation requests, however not all requests may be possible.
Students in Broken Hill are required to depart by 9am on the Friday of their last week of placement. If they must still attend placement on that day, students may leave their luggage in their unit’s common area.
Please note: Friday night accommodation is available at a cost of $50, however students must inform the Student Placements Services team within the first week of their placement that they wish to remain on Friday night.
Students at our other sites (e.g. Bourke, Wentworth, Menindee, etc.) may depart by 9am on the Saturday of their last week of placement.
Student accommodation facilities are fully self-contained. However, students are advised to bring their own bath towels as these are not provided.
Wireless Internet is available in most student accommodation. Students will need to be careful with their use of the internet as it is not unlimited.
On departure, students must follow printed instructions in their accommodation that instructs them what to do with their keys. In some cases students may be required to deposit keys in a ‘key return’ box located near the main entrances of selected facilities, return keys to keysafes, place keys on the dining table, or return keys to the receptionist or house keepers at the BHUDRH.
